20,000 and Counting: Walls are Falling All Over the Place!

I received word today that we’ve now had over 20,000 people like you visit FaithBreakthroughs.com since its launch about four weeks ago – meaning thousands have gotten started on the journey of tearing down those invisible, spiritual walls that are keeping them from living the life God intends for them.

Before you leave the site, why not let your friends know that they too could be on their way to a breakthrough?  You can click the Facebook and Twitter links above.  Even better, a simple message in your Facebook status like this:

I just took a free online evaluation at FaithBreakthroughs.com to discover the primary “Wall” I need to address in my life.  I’m on my way to a Breakthrough!

I talk about the power of a promise shared in my book, and this is another simple example.  Your simple testimony of your own journey could change somebody’s life!  It’s a blessing to hear from so many of you about the walls that you’re taking down, and I’m praying that you will be richly blessed as you experience the power of a Breakthrough.

Exciting Days Ahead!

Under the Hood: God’s Attributes, and Faith Breakthroughs

If you have read any of “Walls,” you know that the entire culture and mission of Bannockburn Baptist Church (where I am Pastor) is built around the idea of Faith Breakthroughs.  By that, I mean that everything we do is done with the idea of growing in our relationship with Jesus, and reflecting His image in home life, and every other area of life for that matter.

The foundational reason that God created the family, I believe, was so that we would have a place to reflect His image and attributes.  So my most important job as a pastor is to help people know God better.  And that is also the most important thing I can do to help connect church and home!  Depending on what list you look at, there are varying numbers of God’s attributes.  For the sake of clarity, we have categorized God’s nature into eight specific categories.  And because Satan’s number one goal is to tarnish the image of God and draw us to something – or someone – else to worship, it would stand to reason that the walls we face would fall into eight corresponding categories.

To see how these work, check out the following: Attributes and Walls

The bottom line is this: everyone I know needs to understand who God is.  In fact (as I outlined in Chapter 11 of Walls), the most important question we will ever answer is, “Who is God?”.  Therefore, our goal as a church is to help eliminate every barrier to intimacy with God.

Walls and The Blessing

I spent yesterday in Colorado Springs in an extraordinary meeting.  20 leaders gathered in the conference room at Focus on the Family to discuss “The Blessing Challenge” – an exciting collaborative effort with the goal of giving 1,000,000 children the gift of a blessing.  If you’re not familiar with the concept of the blessing, it dates back to the very beginning of time.

In Genesis 1:28, right after God made man, the Scripture says, “He blessed them.”  To offer a verbal blessing, give affirmative touch, and to ascribe value to a life is something that can have a profound impact on the success or failure of a child’s ability to live a life of fulfillment and purpose.

More recently, Dr. John Trent wrote a bestselling book called The Blessing in 1993 along with Dr. Gary Smalley. The book lays out clear instructions for giving – and receiving – a biblical blessing.  In a revised edition to be released this spring by Thomas Nelson, the book will also serve as the centerpiece of this national movement for sharing the importance of giving The Blessing.
